Title: Director of the M.S. in Translational Biomedical Research Management Program

Description: Hartwick College invites applications for a Director of the M.S. in Translational Biomedical Research Management (TBRM) Program. This is an exciting opportunity to join a new and growing program, and to help Hartwick fulfill its mission of providing personalized education and career opportunities. Graduates of this program are prepared to manage the "bench to bedside" pathway, moving biomedical research findings into medical interventions that improve health outcomes. The Director will develop relationships with other institutions as well as within the biomedical industry to establish internships and foster job placement for graduates. Preference will be given to those with experience in the online environment. Minimum qualifications include a Ph.D. in a relevant field and at least 5 years management experience.

This is an administrative position. The Director is expected to: recruit and hire instructors; identify and contract with internship sites; refine or revise the curriculum as necessary; advise students; and oversee all other administrative functions within the Program, including assessment. The successful candidate will be an entrepreneur, who is committed to teaching excellence and creating opportunities for students.

M.S. in TBRM Program

The interdisciplinary M.S. in Translational Biomedical Research Management (TBRM) program integrates theoretical and experiential training in biotechnology, computational, problem-solving, and management methods to prepare versatile managers and. Students will bring their diverse academic and professional backgrounds to bear on expanding and honing their knowledge and skills so they can fill emerging roles in the growing field of Translational Biomedical Research Management.

Responsibilities

• Recruit and hire part-time instructors.
• Identify and contract with internship sites.
• Refine or revise the curriculum as necessary.
• Advise students.
• Oversee all other administrative functions within the Program, including assessment.
• Comply with all applicable College, Federal, State, local and associational laws, rules and regulations.
• Participate in all campus wide events including but not limited to open houses, Honors Convocation, Welcome Weekend, True Blue Weekend, and Commencement Weekend.
• As a representative of the College, comport oneself in a professional manner at all times, both on and off campus.
  
  Qualifications: Minimum requirements for this position include a Ph.D. in a related field and at least 5 years of management experience. Preference will be given to individuals with prior experience in the online teaching and learning environment.
  
  All employees are required to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 prior to the start of their employment.
  
  • Industry experience in pharmaceuticals, medical devises, or other biomedical products
  • Entrepreneurially minded, comfortable forging new ground
  • Administrative or management experience
  • Familiarity with online teaching methods, having either taught or taken classes online previously
  • Experience managing internships or scientists
  • Previous implementation work experience (brought products to market)
  • Experience teaching at the college-level is preferred
