Event Sales Manager

*Position Objective*

The primary function of this role is to grow business profitably, both reactively and proactively, and to retain and develop our existing database of clients while maximizing profits.

*Qualifications / Knowledge / Experience*

* Highly professional and committed to the wedding & hospitality industry
* Good working knowledge of Microsoft packages particularly Word, Outlook and Excel
* Previous experience of running events; in particular private events such as weddings, Bar Mitzvahs and corporate events
* Previous experience in event sales and creating/preparing detailed proposals
* Availability to work late nights and weekends on a regular basis
* Excellent telephone and message taking etiquette
* Focused on delivering exceptional customer/client service
* Confident and professional approach when communicating with clients and event suppliers
* Ability to work under pressure and multi-task, particularly during peak seasons
* Efficient time management (must be punctual) and organizational skills
* Strong attention to detail and consistent follow-up crucial
* Flexible personality and desire to work as part of a team
* Ability to stay calm when working under deadlines and/or pressure a must

*Duties/Responsibilities include but are not limited to*

* Executing all aspects of the venue sales process i.e. developing and pursuing new sales leads through phone calls, emails, and networking
* Aggressively find and pursue new opportunities for business by customer solicitation, relationship building, and historical contracts
* Respond to and handle guest inquiries quickly and courteously
* Answer and route incoming sales calls; pre-screen and follow-up with leads
* Maximize each event sale by ensuring optional extras are taken up by clients where possible
* Maintain database for all event sales, including accurate and up-to-date records for all Sales Department functions
* To fully understand the pricing structure and maximize opportunity during peak and off-peak periods
* To have an in depth knowledge of key competition and their strengths and weaknesses
* To attend relevant trade fair/exhibitions/networking events and company promo's as requested
* To identify new opportunities for the business to proactively explore and support where necessary
* Carry out a venue competitor analysis every year and ensure that this is kept up to date
