ASSOCIATE VICE PRESIDENT OF DEVELOPMENTReporting to the Senior Vice President (SVP), Chief Mission and Advancement Officer, the Associate Vice President (AVP) of Development is responsible for coordinating and managing the fundraising and alumni programs of Maria College in collaboration with the Marketing and Communications Office. The AVP will manage the day-to-day operations of the Development Office, providing leadership and hands-on work in the areas of Major Gifts, Planned Giving, Corporate and Foundation Relations, Alumni Relations and Events, the Annual Fund, Advancement Services, and Donor Relations and Stewardship. In all matters the AVP will ensure the mission of College is dynamically represented, positioning Maria College as an institution of choice for opportunity education among donors, the community, and prospective students.Exceptional communication and leadership skills, good judgment, discretion, diplomacy and a sense of humor are all desirable traits. The successful AVP will thrive in an entrepreneurial environment and have a record of building essential elements of development programs. Duties include:Work with the SVP to develop a sustainable and effective advancement plan in line with the strategic plan of the institution.Assist the SVP in developing the Office of Development including its processes, assessment and data management.Ensure consistent and mission-focused branding in all the activities and products of the marketing and development offices. Under direction of the SVP, provide management oversight to both offices.Compiling high quality reports and data analysis on the work of the Development Office.Serve as chief fundraiser, developing and maintaining a portfolio of donors as well as working with the President and the SVP on their portfolios and board development.Create and market an engaging case for philanthropy for donors at all levels.Maintain policies and procedures for the development office based on best practices.Research and cultivate major funding sources, including donors, corporations, and foundations.Oversee a successful Annual Fund and scholarship giving program.Act as liaison with administration and faculty to explore funding sources for College priorities.Develop an active alumni association and alumni engagement program.Ensure the development database is fully utilized, updated and supporting the work of the development office. Currently the department utilizes Raiser's Edge.Work cross-functionally with other campus offices as appropriate.Work closely with staff in the Development and Marketing offices to create an environment that encourages strong support for the College through volunteer service, philanthropy, and events.Work with the SVP, as required, on institutional projects, and perform other duties as assigned, commensurate with the level of the position.Some travel (primarily regional) and evening work will be required. Qualifications:Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.Minimum of eight years progressively responsible experience in the fields of development fundraising, communication, and/or marketing.Professional experience in College Advancement, along with a working knowledge of Catholic institutions, is required.Outstanding oral and written communication skills.Excellent problem solving and analytical skills.Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, manage time effectively, and to demonstrate productivity through regular activity reports.Ability to lead a team and work as part of a team.
