Job Description:
Department/Unit: VIR Nursing Work Shift: Day (United States of
America) Salary Range: $88,192.00 - $136,697.60 If you are looking
for an RN position in the VIR, this could be your opportunity! We
are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Registered Nurse (RN)
to join our Vascular Interventional Radiology Unit (VIR). This
Radiology Nurse primary role is ensuring the safe and efficient
preparation of patients for radiologic procedures. They will assess
patients' medical histories, provide necessary preprocedural
instructions, and collaborate with healthcare teams to ensure that
patients are optimally prepared for their procedures. Attention to
detail, strong communication skills, and clinical expertise will
contribute to the overall quality of care provided to patients.
Other clinical duties as assigned. Primary Essential Duties and
Responsibilities: • Conduct thorough assessments of patients
scheduled for surgical or invasive procedures to evaluate their
physical and emotional readiness. • Review patients' medical
histories, including pre-existing conditions, allergies,
medications, and previous surgeries, to identify potential risks or
complications. • Assess and document patients' current medications,
including dosage and frequency, and make recommendations for any
necessary adjustments or changes in consultation with physicians. •
Provide patients and their families with detailed information about
the upcoming procedure, including what to expect and preoperative
instructions. • Monitor and address any safety concerns related to
the patient's condition, such as allergies, fall risk, or other
vulnerabilities. Other Clinical Duties: • Administration of
conscious sedation, hemodynamic monitoring, management of vented
and critical care patients. • Phase 1 anesthesia recovery of
pediatric and adult patients. • Use of and accessing central venous
devices. • Implements physician orders, administers medications,
starts IVs, performs treatments, procedures and special tests, and
document treatment as required by company policy and
local/state/federal rules and regulations. • Orders, interprets,
and evaluates diagnostic tests to identify and assess patients'
conditions. • Assesses and evaluates patient needs for, and
responses to, care rendered. • Applies sound nursing judgment in
patient care management decisions. • Provides primary and emergency
care for occupational and non-occupational injuries and illnesses.
• Administers over-the-counter and prescription medications as
ordered. • Collaborates with the nursing team to create a Plan of
Care for all patients. • Directs and guides ancillary personnel and
maintain standards of professional nursing. Experience
Requirements: • Peri-procedural nursing care of outpatients and
inpatients needing Interventional Radiology procedures. •
Administration of conscious sedation, hemodynamic monitoring,
management of vented and critical care patients. • Phase 1
anesthesia of pediatric and adult patients • Use of and assessing
central venous devises Desired Skills/Abilities: • Critical Care
experience with ACLS and/or PALS Pediatric experience preferred.
Minimum Qualifications: • Graduate of a professional academic
nursing program in which a Diploma, Associate Degree or
Baccalaureate Degree is conferred. • Must hold current NYS
Registered Nurse license • Obtains and maintains certification in
Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) • Minimum of 1-3 years of
clinical RN experience is required • Minimum of 1 year of Telemetry
or ICU experience is required • Ability to improve job performance
through continuing education. • Possesses knowledge of quality
concepts, principles, and problem-solving tools and techniques and
demonstrates ability to apply in support of departmental and
