Location: MO - SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital - Jefferson City Employment Type: PRN1 Position Overview: This role involves planning, coordinating, and delivering care to adult patients within the Interventional Radiology department. The focus is on ensuring high-quality care is administered safely and efficiently, adhering to the unit's established standards while demonstrating the necessary clinical competencies. Key Responsibilities: Act as a circulator, scrub, or monitor within the Interventional Radiology procedure team. Prepare patients appropriately for procedures, ensuring timely access to essential information such as history and physical (H&P). Utilize critical thinking to assess patients and administer medications, particularly for critically ill individuals, while promptly reporting any abnormalities to the physician. Safely perform hemostasis with or without the use of vascular devices. Regularly enter patient orders and charges, verifying their accuracy. Provide care for critically ill patients, demonstrating the ability to operate independently in high-pressure situations. Educate patients and their families based on assessed needs, document the education provided, and keep them informed about tests and treatments, offering clear instructions regarding the perioperative process. Assist families in navigating to the cardiology or cath lab areas as needed. Maintain a constant state of alertness and safety in all activities. Perform additional tasks as assigned. Qualifications:Education: Graduate from an accredited nursing program or equivalent educational background for licensing. Experience: No prior experience is necessary. Physical Demands: Regularly communicate verbally to convey information. Frequent standing and walking are required. Occasional lifting, carrying, and pushing/pulling of objects weighing between 0-25 lbs. Regular sitting, reaching, and data entry tasks. Frequent visual acuity for both near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) distances, including color differentiation. Regularly utilize the sense of smell to identify odors. Frequently use hearing to receive verbal communication and detect alarms or machinery issues. Occasional lifting of objects weighing 25-50 lbs and moving patients. Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting, gripping, and repetitive movements of the legs and arms. Occasional driving may be required. Rarely involves crawling or running.
