Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Progressive Critical Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Current RN license Certifications: ACLS certification Must-Have: Epic experience Description: The nurses in the Progressive Critical Care Unit care for medically delicate and surgically complex patients. Patients may present with respiratory failure, sepsis, closed head injuries, multi-system organ dysfunction, and complex traumas. Nurses are expected to be competent in the care of both medical and surgical populations. Candidates should demonstrate proficiency in advanced hemodynamics, including pressor usage per titration protocols. Knowledge of antihypertensive, sedative, and narcan drips, as well as thrombo-embolytics, is essential. Experience with devices such as a-line, CVP, EVD, and ortho traction is required. Understanding infection prevention protocols is necessary. Familiarity with HFNC, BiPap, Cpap, and oxygen-dependent patients is expected. Candidates with extensive adult PCU experience or community hospital ICU experience tend to excel in this unit. The average patient load is three high-acuity patients.
