Job Description Job Description Nursing degree, active registered nurse (RN) license and minimum 1 years RN experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. A registered nurse with recent Progressive Care Unit (PCU) or Intermediate Medical Care (IMC) experience is needed for a contract assignment in Potsdam, NY. This role focuses on a mixed acuity unit including PCU, Medical-Surgical Telemetry, and general medical-surgical patients. The work schedule is three 12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM 7:00 AM). Qualifications and Desired Experience: Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience PCU or IMC experience within the last 3 years is required Knowledge and skills in telemetry, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, insulin drip titration, feeding tube care, central and peripheral line care Familiarity with post-MI care, renal failure, blood product administration, phlebotomy, and wound care Experience managing cardiac drips, PCA, thrombolytic agents, seizure disorders, substance withdrawal, ortho trauma, chest tubes, and airway management including tracheostomies Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications required; PALS and TCAR preferred Ability to work float assignments in sister units and meet weekend coverage every other weekend Must reside more than 50 miles from the hospital (no local candidates) Responsibilities: Provide comprehensive care to PCU, telemetry, and surgical patients Manage complex cardiac and medical conditions with appropriate interventions Collaborate using systems including EPIC, Pyxis, and SBAR to ensure patient safety and quality care Adapt to varied patient acuity levels, with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:3-5 during day and weekends and 1:3-6 at night Participate in a 12-hour orientation period Location Insight: Potsdam, NY, is a vibrant community known for its rich history and educational institutions.
