Job Description:
Full-time Description Our Behavioral Support Department located
in Slingerlands, NY has a full-time, 40-hour Behavior Intervention
Specialist (BIS) position available. The schedule for this position
is Monday—Friday, hours vary depending on the needs of the program.
This is a salaried, exempt position with pay rate of $62,553.20 per
year. The Behavior Intervention Specialist (BIS) will develop and
implement behavior support plans (BSP) with a person-centered,
strength-based approach in accordance with NYS OPWDD regulatory
requirements and the agency’s mission. The BIS will train staff
regarding behavior support plans and monitor the effectiveness of
the BSP through data analysis and observation. Some remote work is
possible but BISs are expected to attend meetings and visit WWAARC
programs on their caseload. Qualifications for a WWAARC Behavior
Intervention Specialist (BIS): At least 18 years of age Have a
valid driver’s license that meets WWAARC insurability standards. A
master’s degree in behavior analysis (BCBA) or a field closely
related to clinical or community psychology that is approved by
OPWDD; OR A master’s degree in a clinical or treatment field of
psychology, social work, school psychology applied psychology as it
relates to human development and clinical intervention or a related
human services field; OR A NYS license in Mental Health Counseling,
have at least 5 years’ experience working directly with people
supported with I/DD and/or supervise and train others on behavior
support plans AND have obtained OPWDD approved specialized training
or experience in functional assessment techniques and behavior
support plan development. Must have sufficient proficiency in
speaking, reading, and writing English to communicate effectively
with people supported and team members and to complete required
documentation in accordance with regulatory and agency standards.
Qualifications for a WWAARC BIS In-Training: At least 18 years of
age Have a valid driver’s license that meets WWAARC insurability
standards. A bachelor’s degree in a human services field AND
actively pursuing a master’s degree from a program in a clinical or
treatment field of psychology, social work, school psychology, or
applied psychology as it relates to human development and clinical
interventions; AND Two years’ experience working directly with
individuals with I/DD including the development, implementation,
and monitoring of behavior support plans AND/OR providing
supervision and training to others in the implementation of
behavior support plans. Must have sufficient proficiency in
speaking, reading, and writing English to communicate effectively
with people supported and team members and to complete required
documentation in accordance with regulatory and agency standards.
