Bread Alone would like to invite you to come and be a part of our team and help us realize our core company purpose; to serve honest food, create prosperity for our people, and minimize further harm to the planet.Position OverviewSavory Prep Cooks are the main production staff for the Savory Department. As such, they have the most important hands on role in ensuring that the cafes have the best high quality ingredients to work with. This is a multifaceted position where they need to have a complete working knowledge of all the recipes and techniques they use, as well as the ability to use a variety of equipment. They are the first line of quality control for food served in the cafes and need a keen attention to detail and strong commitment to upholding standards. They are also the first level of keeping costs down and must aim consistently for efficiency and waste reduction.Requirements:Hours:Tuesday-Saturday. Hours are between 9am-7pm .Duties and ResponsibilitiesMaintains and implements a functional knowledge of food safety practices as well kitchen rules and policies.Takes inventory at the beginning of the day of all prepared Savory items, removes expired items, and creates a prep list.Follows all recipes closely and packs/ portions according to specifications.Fully understands all recipes and procedures and asks for clarification where needed.Packs cafe orders carefully and properly. Records and reports all shortages.Contributes to managing cleanliness and organization of storage including walk-in refrigerators, freezer, and dry storage. Rotates items according to safety standards, ensures proper labeling, and puts items away properly. Spot cleans regularly and deep cleans periodically.Records all waste on logs.Correctly fills out end of day paperwork.Maintains a sanitary and neat work area including tables, shelves, ovens, stoves, food processing and sous vide equipment throughout the work day.Closes the kitchen correctly and checks all work spaces before leaving at the end of the work day.Communicates consistently and effectively with coworkers to produce food as efficiently as possible and ensure as little waste as possible.Informs manager promptly of all food quality and equipment issues.Informs manager promptly of all product shortages.Keeps a courteous and professional attitude with coworkers and pursues cooperation and mutual goals.Job RequirementsAbility to manage time and work independentlyServSafe or equivalent Food Handlers Certification preferredAt least 1 year of kitchen experienceAbility to stand for long periodsAbility to lift 50 lbs
