Learn about SUNY at Job Description: The University Center for Academic and Workforce Development (UCAWD) within the Research Foundation for SUNY is looking for qualified applicants for the Human Resources (HR) Coordinator position. The mission of the University Center for Academic and Workforce Development is to promote the social and economic well being of the academically and economically under-served residents of the State of New York by developing and maintaining quality educational and workforce training programs and services. The Human Resources (HR) Coordinator will assist with facilitating the overall day-to-day operations of the UCAWD Human Resources unit. The HR Coordinator is a key member working within the UCAWD Finance and Administration team, responsible for providing support to the various HR functions, including but not limited to: recruitment, onboarding, time and attendance, employee relations, evaluation and performance review, and other HR processes (leave of absence, termination, etc.) as directed by the Human Resources Manager. This position must ensure compliance with State and Federal rules and regulations as well as compliance with Research Foundation for SUNY (RF) policies and procedures. Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist with the day-to-day HR operations within UCAWD.
  • Coordinate staff recruitment with Central Office Human Resources Generalist for Sponsored Programs, UCAWD staff and search chairs and function as a liaison with internal and field staff during the interview and hiring processes.
  • Provide assistance to HR Manager in the development of job descriptions, job announcements and newspaper/web ads with placement on external recruitment sites.
  • Responsible for the coordination and review of recruitment documentation and submission of the recruitment package to the RF Sponsored Programs Human Resources Office.
  • Assist new hire with onboarding paperwork and ensure the RF Sponsored Programs Human Resources Office receives accurately completed documentation for timely payroll processing.
  • Prepare all employee change and payroll transaction forms for UCAWD and its programs and review for accuracy.
  • Respond to requests pertaining to personnel/payroll, employment and recruitment paperwork, etc.
  • Coordinate monthly meetings with ATTAIN Project Manager and Statewide Coordinators to discuss current HR related issues pertaining to field staff.
  • Attend monthly meetings with RF Sponsored Programs Human Resources to discuss ongoing HR related issues.
  • Responsible for updating the ATTAIN Contacts system (ACE) personnel database and compilation of reports, including ongoing monitoring and analysis.
  • Work with HR Manager to maintain open position and vacancy status reports on a monthly basis for tracking and monitoring purposes.
  • Address employee time card actions and troubleshoot any issues/questions related to time and attendance. Liaison with ATTAIN Project Manager, Statewide Coordinators and on-site supervisors to resolve any outstanding issues.
  • Coordinate with Sponsored Programs Human Resources Office and HR Manager regarding leave related inquires and request.
  • Provide assistance to the HR Manager in the communication and process as it relates to the annual Performance Program and Appraisal cycle.
  • Serve on search committees and other committees as directed by the HR Manager and the Director of Finance and Administration as required.
  • Some travel required as it pertains to recruitment and employee relations activities.
  • Other duties as assigned. Requirements: Requirements: Bachelor's Degree in a related field and a minimum of three (3) years of general experience in the HR field is required. Comprehensive knowledge of State and Federal regulations as they pertain to human resource functions. Strong computer skills and knowledge of various software package applications. Problem solving, decision making and working with integrity while maintaining high ethical standards are critical for this position. Preferred Qualifications: High energy individual that is comfortable performing multiple tasks and managing complex projects in a fast-paced team environment. The individual must be able to coordinate and prioritize various projects and tasks simultaneously to ensure all work is accurately completed within prescribed time frames. Strong interpersonal skills and communication skills highly desirable. Ability to exercise discretion in the handling of confidential and/or sensitive information. Excellent presentation skills and the ability to exercise independent judgment. Proven ability and demonstrated skills in organization, attention-to-detail and follow-through. Ideal candidate must be a team player, quick learner and a self-starter. Work is general in scope and requires the ability to work collaboratively and exercise sound and independent judgement. Experience working with culturally diverse populations highly desired.
