Job Description:

for all students? The North Colonie Central School District is
looking for an Assistant Director of Human Resources to support the
Human Resources Department in the development, implementation and
coordination of employment-related programs, safety, recruitment,
retention and compliance throughout the organization. The Assistant
Director of Human Resources will work directly with the Human
Resources Director and the Human Resources team to continue to
foster a work environment that is open, approachable, proactive and
customer-focused. The philosophy of the North Colonie Human
Resources department is unique in its approach, the implementation
of employment-related programs and the problem-solving of issues.

solutions to employee concerns. The goal always being about what is
best for students and for staff. Building and maintaining a
workforce that is student-focused and fostering an environment of
positive professionalism is our daily work. The Assistant Director
of Human Resources should not only understand the current trends
and changes in employment laws but help to envision what the
District could be if all learners' strengths, interests and talents
were identified, recognized, and developed in a manner that allowed
all students and staff to explore and grow in ways they deemed
meaningful. While the field of Human Resources can be found in all
industries, Human Resources in the field of Public Education has
its unique nuances. With this, preference may be given to those
with prior school experience and to those who have an instructional
background.This newly created position will be available on or
around July 1, 2023 and will be a part of the Management
Confidential unit. Albany County Civil Service Status =
Provisional.Works with the Director to conduct investigative
meetings and determine the recommended course of action;Serves as
coordinator of personnel, coordinating efforts between Human
Resources and all departments including payroll;Interprets and
applies civil service/education rules, laws and regulations to a
variety of personnel matters;Acts as a liaison to employees and the
public to answer questions concerning personnel and policies and
procedures;Assists with resolving discrepancies with appropriate
authorities conducting appropriate research and analysis;Assists in
the handling of human resources functions, including, but not
limited to recruitment, hiring, new employee orientation, benefits
administration, job classification for both certified and
classified staff;Participates in employee relations activities
including administering and interpreting all collective bargaining
agreements answering questions of administrators and
employees;Develops and implements trainings for staff on required
topics and as needed, using in-person and virtual
optionsParticipates in personnel meetings to discuss and recommend
changes in personnel;Works with the Director to develop procedures
to administer programs/benefits affecting personnel matters such as
Workers' Compensation, FMLA, disability;Participates in the
formulation and research of special projects related to the human
resources field;Leads the implementation of new software projects
and documentation the appropriate workflow and procedures;Act as a
liaison between administration and the labor unions regarding
employee issuesResolves difficult employee concerns regarding
benefits, payroll, or worker's compensation issues;Participates in
labor and employee relations;Participates in resolving employee
grievances;Participates in union contract negotiations;Assists in
the supervision of Human Resources staff and works to develop their
skills and knowledge base;12 month position Starting Salary:
$90,000. Actual salary will be based on education and experience

package.Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State
registered college or university with a Master's Degree in Human
Resource Management, Public or Business Administration or related
fieldOR Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State
registered college or university with a Bachelor's Degree and two
(2) years of professional experience in human resources or
personnel management/administrationORGraduation from a regionally
accredited or New York State registered college or university with
an Associate's Degree and four (4) years of professional experience
