Our Trusts and Estates practice is known for its compassionate and personal approach, helping families and individuals through difficult situations with confidence. We are seeking a skilled, and motived attorney to join our team and contribute to our mission. Job Summary: We are seeking a hard-working and motivated attorney to handle a wide range of trusts, estate and elder law matters. The successful candidate will work closely with clients to draft wills, trusts and other estate planning documents; oversee the administration of probate and trust administration; and provide counsel on elder law issues such as Medicaid, guardianship, and long-term care options. This role requires a deep understanding of New York State and federal laws, and a commitment to advocating for the client’s best interest in a compassionate way. Key Responsibilities: Draft, review and finalize estate planning documents, including wills, trusts, powers of attorney and healthcare proxies. Provide legal advice and oversee probate and trust administration, including preparing court filings, inventories and accountings. Court appearances as needed. Assist clients with elder law matters, including Medicaid eligibility, asset protection, and guardianship proceedings. Conduct client consultations to assess needs and develop personalized legal strategies. Stay current on relevant NYS and federal laws, regulations, and case law, including tax laws and tax-related planning techniques. Collaborate with paralegals and other attorneys to ensure seamless case management. Represent clients in court or administrative proceedings as needed. Basic Qualifications: Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school. Active license, in good standing, to practice law in New York State. Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in trusts and estates and elder law. That said, we are willing to train the right candidate who has less experience. Excellent drafting, negotiation and communication skills. Compassionate and client-centered approach to legal practice. Commitment to a positive client experience. Ability to manage a diverse caseload with attention to detail and deadlines. Experience with estate tax planning matters is a plus. Why Join Us?
