Join us in building a brighter future for our people, our customers and the communities we serve.Zurich is currently looking for a Sr IPZ Claims Specialist - Complex Claims. - -This position may work out of one of the following North American offices: -Schaumburg, Omaha, Atlanta, Woodland Hills, Rocky Hill, Addison, Overland Park, New York City, Rancho Cordova, ParsippanyThis position works with minimal direction at high authority level on assignments reflecting the highest degree of technical complexity. The position requires superior technical skills as well as product and industry knowledge and is recognized as a technical consultant and advisor both within and outside the company. -The Sr IPZ Claims Specialist analyzes complex inter-policy and multi-country coverage issues, investigates/evaluates global exposures, assigns/explains reserves, seeks/grants authority from various global leadership teams, and assists/directs junior colleagues and foreign colleagues and/or TPAs to resolve claims according to US and Global Best Practices.The individual will be dedicated to specific accounts and will serve as liaison with Zurich's BUs. The Sr IPZ Claims Specialist will also direct handle complex international exposures and regularly communicate with customers, brokers, BU representatives, TPAs, TPA Ops, Claims Legal, Corporate Law, foreign colleagues and Senior Management around the global network to facilitate and ensure the resolution of a variety of moderate to complex Auto and Liability claims including premises, product liability, trucking, EL, dram shop, UM/UIM, PIP, XS, and DIC/DIL matters.International Programs knowledge and experience is required as is IPZ certification.Basic Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor and 6 or more years of National GL claims experience including at least 5 years of experience with Large Loss claimsOR
  • Bachelor's Degree and 8 or more years of National GL claims experience including at least 5 years of experience with Large Loss claimsOR
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 10 or more years of National GL claims experience including at least 5 years of experience with Large Loss claims - - - - - -OR
    • Zurich approved Apprenticeship program including an Associate Degree and 8 or more years of National GL claims experience including at least 5 years of experience with Large Loss claims - - - - - -AND
      • Must obtain and maintain required adjuster license(s)
      • Negotiation Experience
      • Customer service experience
      • Microsoft Office experience
      • Able to travel 10%Preferred Qualifications:
        • Self-starter able to oversee work and projects from start to finish with minimal supervision
        • Demonstrated organizational and time management skills and able to work independently on multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
        • Proven diary management skills and able to document claim files by accurately capturing and updating claims data/information in compliance with best practices
        • Experience with resolution of global coverage issues, decision tree analysis, reserving, analyzing jurisdictional and service of process issues for lawsuits developing case defense strategy, and managing overall file direction and resolution on national basis
        • Able to direct and control legal actions and expenses, negotiations, and trial strategy on large casualty claims in accordance with Zurich Best Practices
        • Able to analyze complex coverage issues and interaction between laws of various states and countries, recommend and implement strategies with 5 or more years of experience in drafting ROR and disclaimer letters on additional insured and contractual indemnity
        • Proven ability in coordination of coverage disputes and claims handling with co-defendants and other carriers
        • Able to effectively present complex information effectively and succinctly to senior leaders, BU and customers
        • Able to interface with large commercial customers, brokers, and underwriters to ensure good communication flow, risk insight, and trend identification
        • Experience with claim reviews involving underlying carriers, TPAs, and large SIR customers and ability in account claim service coordination and customer relationship management
        • Able to explain deductible billing and reinsurance on GL insurance programs and able to explain the difference between SIRs and deductibles
        • Able to establish timely and accurate reserves and perform ongoing reassessments throughout the claims cycle
        • Superior interpersonal skills with ability to motivate others in a team approach to obtain desired results and experience in a work environment that requires collaboration across work groups
        • Able to contribute to the team effort by accomplishing related results, providing backup, and participating on projects as needed
        • Able to serve as technical resource by mentoring claims professionals and sharing technical knowledge related to specific LOB expertise
        • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, staying current with industry trends, establishing personal network
        • Possess directly related insurance designation such as CPCU, SCLA, AIC
