If a provisional appointment is made, the appointed candidate will be required to compete in the next holding of the Investigator 1 exam and be reachable for appointment from the newly established eligible list. The minimum qualifications for Provisional appointment are:Either Four years of qualifying experience;OR An associates degree in criminal justice, law enforcement, police science, criminal justice administration, criminology, criminal investigation, police studies, public justice, forensic accounting, forensic psychology, forensic science, economic crime management, or homeland security AND two years of qualifying experience;OR A bachelors degree or higher in criminal justice, law enforcement, police science, criminal justice administration, criminology, criminal investigation, police studies, public justice, forensic accounting, forensic psychology, forensic science, economic crime management, or homeland security.Qualifying Experience: Experience in a field investigative position conducting interviews of witnesses and others, taking written statements and affidavits, collecting and analyzing physical and documentary evidence, and preparing detailed written reports of investigative findings.Non-Qualifying Investigative Experience includes but may not be limited to: Experience in routine police patrol work, security guard or related security position, tax collector, collector of delinquent accounts, credit checker, legal assistant/attorney, hotel or store detective, loss prevention officer, parole officer, correction officer, guard, inspector, or experience in adoption and/or foster care placement.55 B/C QUALIFICATIONS:Individuals certified eligible for the 55 B/C program under the Governor's Program to Hire Persons/Veterans with Disabilities pursuant to Section 55 B/C of the Civil Service Law will also be considered. Duties Description The Investigator 1 (Spanish Language) duties will include but are not limited to the following: Investigate consumer complaints to ensure compliance with licensing laws, rules, and regulations. Conduct state-initiated audits and inspections. Evaluate the trustworthiness or qualifications from licenses Safeguard the public against unqualified or unscrupulous business operations. Collaborate with various state agencies to:o Prevent worker exploitation.o Investigate complaints involving housing discrimination.o Inspect businesses that provide security services at critical infrastructure sites across New York State.
