Job Description:

*** The ideal candidate would be located in the New York, NY area or within 45 miles*** Primary Purpose: Responsible for creating an estimate of damages to 1st and 3rd party material damage of Specialty Vehicles (i.e. RV and Commercial vehicles) within an assigned territory. This includes focusing on the needs of loss participants, identifying customer needs, working to meet those needs using appropriate customer service skills and communicating with internal (telephone claims adjusters) and external (policyholders and claimants) shareholders. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Following is a summary of the essential functions for this job. Other duties may be performed, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below. Specific activities may change from time to time. Create appraisal from physical inspections and review of photosHandle routine and complex material damage claims with little or no supervisionMaintain timely and effective communication with customer's and repair facilities on assigned high value claimsDetermine subrogation or fraud potential; identify coverage issues relative to the policy writtenReceive claim assignments and document all appropriate informationReview photos thoroughly and determine ability to repair; complete assessment and/ or total loss evaluation as necessaryEvaluate settlement alternatives by reviewing regulatory compliance and fair claims practices; make decisions on best optionIdentify subrogation or fraud potential based upon physical evidence and refer to the appropriate claims representative when potential existsStay informed of changes in the collision repair industry including statutory and regulatory changes as they relate to material damageWhen appropriate, make contact to discuss a settlement; extend an offer to appropriate party; document all file activity and payment/settlement information in file notes clearly outlining basis for settlementTake ownership of any issue, problem or error that could potentially impact the policyholder and/or loss participantHandle accurately any type of material damage claim within limit of authority demonstrating labor judgment skills, ability to identify total loss and soundly produce estimatesAssist with training of other Specialty Material Damage staffAssist with management of Specialty Direct Repair shops within assigned region as directedAct as subject matter expert on Specialty Vehicles for assigned geographic territoryMinimum Skills and Competencies: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Bachelor's Degree or in-lieu of degree equivalent education, training and work-related experienceObtain and Maintain appropriate license and/or educational requirementsPossess hands on training in a repair facility or training center specific to Specialty VehiclesAbility to develop a basic understanding of the insurance industry and the organizational relationships of the companyPossess estimating experience with an automated estimating systemAbility to accurately assess damage on RV's and/or Commercial vehiclesPossess effective organization and time management skills with the ability to work under pressure and adhere to project deadlinesAbility to maintain consistent file review exception rates at or lower than department set standardsPossess solid understanding of the claims policies, procedures and material damage guidelines; ability to interpret policies, procedures and guidelines in resolving claimsPossess general understanding of the repair and replacement of property damages, to include mechanical components of a vehicle and other potential exposuresAbility to identify, investigate and conclude coverage investigationsPossess general knowledge of unibody/ conventional frame damages and repair processesMust possess effective verbal and written communication skillsProficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)High degree of initiative, mature judgment and discretionAbility to resolve conflicts and empathize with customersStrong negotiation skillsDesired Skills: Obtain and Maintain appropriate license and/or educational requirements (i.e. Adjuster license in home state or state that requires examination and CE)Successful completion of one or more professional designations/ training programs: Estimating and Repairing Recreational Vehicles and Commercial Vehicles; I-Car Certification; Fraud Training; RVIA/RVDA, RVTA, ASEPossess previous material damage claims handling experiencePossess management experience in a repair facilityPossess a general understanding of insurance law as it relates to claimsPossess knowledge in RV Estimatics, RV Policy, Motorcycle Estimates and Motorcycle Policy as dictated by area business needs
